Verification & documents
The wizard's Photos step (logo and cover image), and how verification documents — added later from Manage → Edit → Verification — earn a Verified badge. GB Companies House vs Isle of Man, and how uploads are kept private.
The wizard's Photos step covers your logo and cover image — both optional; you can skip straight on with Continue → review and your shop still lists. Verification documents are not asked for during the application at the moment. If you'd like a Verified badge, add them any time from Manage → Edit → Verification — everything below still applies there.
Listing images
- Logo — a roughly square image up to 1 MB. Accepts PNG, JPEG or WebP (SVG isn't accepted).
- Cover image — a wide banner up to 4 MB. Accepts PNG, JPEG or WebP.
We automatically optimise and resize raster images for the web after upload. If an image is the wrong shape or too large you'll get a clear message explaining the limit.
Verification documents and the Verified badge
Uploading documents is optional, but it earns you a Verified badge. After our team personally checks your ID and proof of address, a Verified badge appears on your listing everywhere customers see you — search results, your profile and their favourites — a clear signal that a real person at LocalFor.Me has confirmed who you are.
To add one, open Manage → Edit → Verification, choose a Document type, attach the File (PDF or image, up to 10 MB) and click Upload document. You can add several. The available types are:
- Government-issued ID (passport, driving licence)
- Selfie holding your ID
- Proof of address (utility bill, council tax, bank statement)
- Bank statement
- Business registration certificate
- HMRC self-assessment confirmation
- Partnership agreement
- Other supporting document
Every business type needs ID plus proof of address; specific types add their own (a partnership adds a partnership agreement; a company adds its registration certificate).
GB vs Isle of Man
The Company registry you chose on the Basics step affects how we verify you:
- United Kingdom (Companies House) — if a registration number is given, we look it up and can auto-fill your legal name.
- Isle of Man (Companies Registry) — there's no public API, so IM businesses are reviewed manually by our team.
- Sole Trader, Partnership, Personal or None — no registry lookup; verification is by the documents above.
Note: a registration number is required when you pick GB or Isle of Man, because we can't look the company up without one. It's optional for the other types.
Keeping documents private
Verification documents are clearly marked Private — review team only. They're stored in a secure, private location and are never shown on your public listing — only our review team can see them. Applications submitted without documents still go to a human reviewer, who will follow up if anything more is needed.
